Ngin is a 75-year-old grandmother from Cambodia. She has two daughters, six sons, and many grandchildren. Her husband is a monk. Ngin lives with her youngest daughter, who is a teacher. In her free time, she enjoys listening to the monks praying on the radio and joining ceremonies at the pagoda.
One year ago, Ngin developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ngin learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours with her son seeking treatment. On December 22nd, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Ngin shared, “I hope after surgery I can see well. I want to go the pagoda and to their ceremonies. I want to be able to take care of myself and my grandchildren well.”
