Thein Oo is a kindhearted 17-year-old girl with a large encephalocele on her nose caused by a rare defect during fetal development. Thein Oo’s condition requires surgery, but lack of access to medical care has prevented her from getting it treated.
The team at BCMF writes, “Thein Oo is very shy. She says that while she has dreams of being a doctor, she cannot achieve this as she stays at home and hides because of her condition.”
Thein Oo’s family cannot afford treatment for her condition. To make matters more complicated, they are legally not allowed to travel in Thailand and need the expertise of BCMF to negotiate the security checkpoints to travel to Chiang Mai for surgery. We need to raise $2000 to cover the cost of her travel and care and give her a chance at a normal life.
