Thy is a 57-year-old farmer from Cambodia. He is married with three sons and one daughter. He enjoys planting vegetables and taking care of his rice field.
In October 2015, Thy was in a motorcycle accident and fractured his right ankle. He went to a hospital for treatment, but his symptoms did not improve. He was subsequently treated at a private clinic for pus discharge from his wound. Thy continues to experience ankle pain and stiffness. He was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, which is the degeneration of joint cartilage and underlying bone. This makes it difficult for Thy to walk around and do his work.
Thy learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from his neighbor. He traveled for three hours with his brother to reach CSC for treatment. On March 27, Thy will undergo a joint arthrodesis procedure to fuse his right ankle. After recovery, Thy will be able to walk again and return to work. CSC is requesting $450 to fund this procedure.
