Kou is a 43-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She is married and has two daughters. In her free time, she likes to go to the pagoda to join ceremonies, chat with her neighbors, and watch the news on TV.
Four years ago, Kou developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and tearing. Kou has trouble seeing things clearly, recognizing faces and working on her own.
When Kou learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours to seek treatment. On June 15, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Kou will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.

Kou underwent cataract surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her right eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her left eye.
Kou says, “I’m very happy that I can see clearly again because I want to continue my work as a farmer and plant rice again.”
