Pheak Kdey is a 25-year-old farmer from Cambodia who is married with one son. In his free time, he likes to watch TV, listen to music, and help his wife cook.
In March of 2013, Pheak Kdey cut the middle finger on his right hand with a knife. He went to a local hospital for treatment, but doctors only gave him stitches. Since then, he has developed a flexion contracture in his hand, which makes it difficult for him to straighten and bend his middle finger.
Pheak Kdey traveled with his mother for over two hours to reach our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), in search of treatment. There, surgeons will perform a tendon repair surgery that will allow Pheak Kdey to use his finger again. He is currently scheduled to undergo this operation on January 16.
To pay for the expenses of the surgery, CSC is requesting $450. Pheak Kdey is expected to fully recover and return to his work.
