Sokleang is a 6th grade student from Cambodia. He has two older brothers and enjoys playing soccer with his friends and watching television.
When he was one year old, Sokleang had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his left ear to perforate. For this reason, Sokleang experiences tinnitus, discharge, itchiness, and hearing loss. He is unable to hear others clearly and cannot focus well at school.
Sokleang traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On December 11th, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
“I hope that my son’s ear surgery goes well and I will no longer have to worry about his ear infection,” Sokleang’s mother shared.
