Thy is a 46-year-old newspaper employee from Cambodia. He is married with two daughters and works in a small press company. His wife is a garment worker and his daughters are students. At home, he enjoys listening to the news on the radio.
Six months ago, Thy developed a cataract in his left eye. He is unable to see well outside in bright or dim light, and cannot work due to his worsening vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he is not able to go places on his own.
When Thy learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for an hour seeking treatment. On November 18th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help raising $253 to fund his procedure and care.
Thy shared, “I hope after surgery I can see clearly, return to work, and feel more independent.”
