Sol is a 26-year-old garment worker. She’s married and has two daughters. Her first daughter is ten years old and attends 4th grade and her younger daughter is three. Sol lives with her husband who is a sewing machine mechanic. Sol enjoys listening to music and watching movies on TV.
Two months ago, Sol developed a chalazion in her left eye, causing her itchiness and irritation. A chalazion is an inflamed cyst in a patient’s tear gland. It is difficult for her to see clearly and work.
Sol traveled for two hours to seek treatment from our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre. On March 11th, surgeons will remove the cyst through a chalazion excision procedure. After recovery, Sol’s symptoms should improve. She needs help raising $187 to fund this procedure.
Sol says, “I hope my eye heals soon so I can return to work and not worry about my eye anymore.”

Sol underwent chalazion eye surgery to remove a cyst.
Sol had a successful operation and is recovering well. Although it may take several weeks before her eye heals completely, she will no longer have a swollen lid or feel self-conscious of her eye. The removal will help her live more comfortably and have better eyesight for all her work and to go about day-to-day tasks.
Sol said: “my eye will look so much better, and I no longer have pain or tearing. I am hoping to return to work very soon. Thank you to those who helped me to have this surgery so I can support my family and do more to send my children to school.”
