He is a 62-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He lives with his wife, four children, and seven grandchildren. His children all work alongside him or as local construction workers. He enjoys listening to the news on the radio while he works.
A year ago, He developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurry vision, irritation, and tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When He learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours from Kompongcham province seeking treatment. On June 1st, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
He said, “I need to drive my moto well for my work and I cant do that right now. I hope this surgery helps me go back to farming quickly.”
His niece shared, “He cannot recognize anything right now, so we have to help him everywhere. I hope his eyes are back to normal.”
