Meet Orn, a 58-year-old woman with a big family: two sons and four daughters. A native of Cambodia, Orn’s favorite activities include visiting her local pagoda. There, she enjoys joining in worship and listening to the monks pray.
For a decade now, Orn has been living with a painful eye condition known as entropion. This causes both of her eyelids to turn inward so that the lashes scrape the surface of her eyes. In addition to the near-constant irritation and discomfort that this causes, Orn’s vision has been reduced, as it is hard for her to open her eyes.
Fortunately, though, Orn recently heard about the subsidized care available at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, and took the four-hour journey with her son to see a doctor there. She was told that lid correction surgery would help her significantly.
Orn will receive this operation on June 20. However, she cannot afford to pay for it on her own. When we raise $212, we will be able to cover the cost of her procedure, as well as her three-day hospital stay.
Let’s make sure this mother of six does not have to live another day in discomfort—and that she can soon see the faces of her children again clearly and comfortably.
