Vun is a 53-year-old cement worker from Cambodia. In his free time, Vun likes to watch boxing and the news on TV, plant vegetables, and feed his chickens.
Vun developed a pterygium in each eye about ten years ago. A pterygium is a growth of a pink, fleshy tissue on the white of the eye. It results in blurred vision, tearing, irritation, and burning. Vun has trouble seeing clearly, working, and going anywhere on his own.
Vun found out about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, (CSC), from a neighbor. He traveled for two hours with his wife to reach CSC for treatment. On February 7, eye surgeons at CSC will remove the pterygium from each eye, and Vun will be able to see clearly again. CSC is requesting $148 to fund this procedure.
