Orn is a 62-year-old woman from Cambodia. She lives with her younger sister, brother-in-law, their three children, and her five-year-old grandchild. Her sister and brother-in-law work as waste collectors to help support the family. Orn takes care of her grandson and looks after the house.
Two weeks ago, Orn began noticing redness and swelling in her left hand. She was diagnosed with cellulitis, a bacterial infection affecting the skin and underlying tissues, which causes pain, swelling, and redness. Without treatment, cellulitis can spread and threaten the surrounding tissue.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is helping Orn to receive the care that she needs. On June 5th, surgeons at our medical partner’s care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre, will perform a debridement procedure to remove the damaged and infected tissue from her hand. Orn’s family is able to contribute $100 but needs $224 more to fund this procedure.
After surgery, Orn hopes that she can return to her everyday activities without pain.
