Nataana's baby boy is six months old. Nataana's baby was born with clubfoot on both feet, a condition where both feet are twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual and this will cause difficulty walking and even wearing shoes in the future. Nataana and her baby traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House, where surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on September 24th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund the baby's treatment. After treatment, he is expected to crawl, walk, run, and play comfortably when he grows up. Nataana says: “My family does not want my son as part of the family because of this condition and that is why we have not given him a name. I hope this treatment will change this and my family will accept him."

Boromey is a 23-year-old construction worker from Cambodia who lives with his parents and one younger brother in Banteay Mean Chey province. His father is a teacher in the village and his mother sells vegetables at the market. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer with friends in the local field. Four years ago, Boromey was in a motorcycle accident, resulting in an injury to his left shoulder. This injury has caused muscle tightness, which affects his ability to bend his elbow and move his fingers. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his left side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is currently unable to move his left arm, and he cannot work. Boromey traveled to Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre to receive treatment. This is the only center in the whole country where this treatment is available. On May 10th, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he will be able to use his left arm again. Boromey and his family are able to contribute $100 for his treatment but our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, needs $609 more to fund this procedure. Boromey said, "I hope to move my left arm easily again. I hope to pursue my dream of becoming a policeman one day."

Evasi is a farmer from Mozambique. His family fled to Malawi when the country faced civil unrest. They took refuge in the district of Dedza until he was a teenager. Years later, they returned to Mozambique when the area they lived in became peaceful. Evasi settled and married there. He is a father to eight children. He works hard as a tobacco farmer. Since 2023, Evasi has had a right inguinal hernia. Because of it, he suffers from back aches and abdominal pains. He has sought medical help from several hospitals in Mozambique, which have all failed to provide him with support. He became frustrated and hoped that maybe he could get better care in Malawi. Evasi was eventually referred to our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. On September 5th, he will undergo hernia repair with mesh surgery at our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, and is requesting $500 to fund the surgery. Once completed, the surgery will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. Evasi says, "I will be very happy if this condition is permanently treated so that I can regain my strength to continue providing for my home."
