Chou lives with his parents and grandmother in Kandal province. His father works in construction, his mother works in a clothing factory. His grandmother stays at home to take care of him when his parents are working. Chou's mother shared that he is a happy baby that loves milk and taking naps. Chou was born with a rare congenital condition that has led to several complications in his lower limbs, including an equinus deformity where the foot is held in a downward position, making it difficult to pull the ankle and foot up. Chou Laing's parents are worried about his future as he grows up with birth conditions that affect both legs, including mobility and function, which could impact his ability to walk. Fortunately, a Tuk-Tuk driver informed Chou's parents about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, and they brought him in to seek help. On July 15th, CSC's surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform a surgery on his left foot to release the tightness or contracture caused by his ankle equinus deformity. This procedure aims to improve his ability to walk as he grows up. Currently, his parents are seeking assistance to raise $522 for his treatment, which would significantly enhance his quality of life. His parents hope that surgery will help Chou will feel more comfortable, and give him the best chance of learning to walk when he is older.

Ashirafu is a young boy from Malawi. His mother, Joana, is a soya and maize farmer. Ashirafu is not in school yet. He likes playing and eating any food available. When he was five months old, Ashirafu was diagnosed with a left inguinal hernia. This condition causes him pain and affects his mother's daily activities. As his mother had to take him to different hospitals, she has been unable to work regularly. Ashirafu was referred to our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center and was scheduled for hernia repair surgery on September 17th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, requests $575 to fund Ashirafu's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Ashirafu's mother said, "I am filled with joy that finally my son has been considered for treatment; I can't wait to see my son well again and start school afterward."

Jennifer is a single parent from the Philippines. Jennifer lives with her mother and son. She works as an office staff and serves as the main provider for her family. Her mother receives a small monthly pension and helps her with the family expenses. Jennifer loves doing household chores in her free time. One year ago, Jennifer began to experience troubling symptoms, including pain on the abdominal side of her body that affected her back. Jennifer was diagnosed with chronic calculous cholecystitis or gallstones. Jennifer has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, her symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Jennifer is scheduled to undergo a cholecystectomy on September 14th. A portion of the cost of the procedure is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is raising the remaining $1,128 to cover the cost of Jennifer's surgery and care. Jennifer says "Thank you very much to all of you who will donate for my surgery. Thank you very much for your generosity. This will greatly affect our lives as I will be able to function better as a daughter and a mother."
