“I hope my daughter can get better,” shares the father of Nuth, an 11-month-old baby girl from Cambodia. “After she is healed, when she is grown more, I will send her to study so that she can have a good job in the future.”
Nuth, the first-born child in her family, was born with meningoencephalocele (MEC). MEC is a condition in which a sac of membrane and brain tissue protrude through a defect in the skull. As a result of MEC, Nuth is susceptible to various infections, subsequent complications, and even death.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), reports, “Due to this abnormal sac of fluid, Nuth has a swollen mass on her face.” Thus, Nuth’s aunt, who previously received treatment from CSC, Nuth, and Nuth’s father travelled for an hour to seek CSC’s assistance.
For $390, Nuth will receive medical care that will help to repair her facial disfigurement and reduce the risk of future medical complications. Let’s help ensure a safer and healthier future for Nuth!
