Pan is a 16-year-old student in eighth grade living in Cambodia. He has four sisters and four brothers. He enjoys playing football, volleyball, and watching TV.
In May 2016, Pan sustained a right distal femur fracture in a motor vehicle accident. He received Khmer traditional medicine (KTM) for the first 19 days since the accident. Since then the area has been swollen and painful, and he has been unable to walk to school.
He and his brother traveled to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), and his doctors recommended an open reduction internal fixation surgery. The surgery will realign his femur and fix it in place with screws and a cast. The total cost of $405 covers the procedure, supplies, imaging, ten days of inpatient care, and one year of follow up visits.
Following his surgery and cast removal, Pan is expected to walk easily again and return to school.
