Savan is a 34-year-old miner who is married and has two sons and one daughter. He likes to watch TV and go on Facebook in his free time.
In August, Savan fell in a gold mine and fractured his left forearm. He went to a Khmer traditional healer for treatment, but his symptoms did not improve. It became difficult for Savan to use his arm, and he was in pain.
When Savan learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for four hours to seek treatment. On December 27, surgeons at CSC performed an open reduction internal fixation procedure to heal Savan’s fracture and allow him to work again. CSC is requesting $411 to fund this procedure.

Savan underwent successful fracture repair.
Surgeons at CSC fixated a plate and four screws and performed a bone graft in his forearm to heal his fracture. Following his procedure, he was given pain medication, and he was instructed to keep his left arm elevated during recovery. He had physiotherapy, and his sutures were removed ten days later. He experiences mild pain in his wrist, but he feels better. His wound has healed nicely, and there is no sign of infection. Savan is now able to use his left arm better than before.
Savan’s wife says, “I’m happy to see my husband feel better after the operation.”
