Meet Kong, a 63-year-old woman living in Cambodia who likes to listen to music on the radio and the sound of the monks praying. Kong worked on a rice farm and liked supporting herself, but because of blurred vision she had to stop and now must rely on her family to care for her.
Kong’s fuzzy vision comes from the pterygium (growth of tissue on the white part of the eye) which often causes her eyes to burn and feel irritated. “She traveled five hours from her village in hopes of receiving successful surgery,” say our partners, the Children’s Surgical Centre.
For $150, Kong will receive the pterygium surgery which will not only restore her vision, but assist in her overall independence. Let’s help Kong see clearly and be pain-free!
