Salis is a 35-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She has one 10-year-old son. When she isn’t working, Salis watches TV, cleans her home, and looks after her son.
In 2018, Salis noticed a growth on her neck that has increased in size. She has papillary carcinoma. She feels tension in her throat making it difficult to breathe and is experiencing hair loss and eye pain.
Salis traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On December 24th, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Now, Salis needs help to raise $231 to fund this procedure.
Salis said, “I am hopeful about after surgery. I want to feel better and be able to swallow easily and finally have no pain.”

Salis underwent a tumor removal on her neck.
Salis had a successful surgery on her neck and recovered quickly. She’s now home from the hospital and will be following up with an endocrinologist in her province, where she will have further work-up for her condition and begin thyroid replacement therapy. Her surgeon says she has a very good prognosis and she will be able to lead a normal life ahead now that she’s had surgery. Both Salis and the medical team are grateful for the donors support that made her surgery possible.
