Win is an 11-year-old student from Burma who lives with his family in a refugee camp in Thailand. His father has a shop in the camp while his mother is a homemaker. Win and his three younger brothers attend school in the camp. During his free time, he enjoys playing football and sometimes watching cartoons on YouTube. One day ago, Win began to experience troubling symptoms, including abdominal pain and vomiting. He was diagnosed with appendicitis and now needs surgery to prevent his condition from worsening. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Win receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo an appendectomy, a surgery to remove the appendix when it becomes infected, on October 10th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Win and his family need your support. “I have pain in my abdomen and I cannot touch it. It is very painful. I want this pain to stop,” said Win.

Pov is a 51-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She lives with her husband and two of their four children. Pov and her husband were unable to afford school fees, so their children dropped out of middle school to help them in the rice fields. In her free time, Pov likes to visit with and chat with her friends in the village. Since she was 15 years old, Pov has suffered from an ear infection that caused the tympanic membrane (eardrum) in her left ear to perforate. As a result, she experiences recurrent ear discharge, tinnitus, and itchiness. This condition has made it difficult for her to communicate clearly with her family and friends. Pov traveled to our medical partner's care center, Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre to receive treatment. On August 22nd, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Pov is able to contribute $25 towards the cost of her treatment and needs help raising $462 more to fund the procedure. Pov says, "I hope that after recovery I will be able to communicate more easily with my family and friends."

Bean is a 45-year-old fisherman from Cambodia who lives with his father, wife, and their two children: a nine-year-old son and a twelve-year-old daughter, both currently attending primary school. Bean's wife works as a grocery seller, while his father stays at home and helps take care of the children. In his free time, Bean enjoys drinking coffee and watching sports on TV with his friends in the village. Bean has had a tumor near the left side of his jaw, in front of his ear, for eight years without getting treatment. The tumor is about 3 cm long, feels soft, has smooth edges, and has been slowly growing. Bean is concerned about the tumor getting bigger and the chance that it might turn cancerous in the future. Bean traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 15th, surgeons at Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Bean is able to contribute $100 towards the cost of his treatment and needs help raising $173 more to fund the procedure. Bean says, "I've had this swelling near my jaw for eight years now, and I've been worried. I hope to have the mass removed so I can stop worrying about it and go back to work as quickly as possible."
