Julia is a 38-year-old single mother of three children from rural Guatemala. She runs a tortilla business from her home, which allows her to stay home with her children while earning an income. She works hard to send her children to school.
However, Julia recently experienced extreme abdominal pain due to problems with her gallbladder. She was diagnosed with gallstones, which have made it difficult for her to work and care for her children.
In order to live a pain-free life, she needs to have her gallbladder removed surgically. Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, has scheduled a gallbladder surgery for March 21.
However, she cannot afford the treatment on her own. For this reason, our medical partner is requesting $436. This will pay for the surgery, transportation from Julia’s rural village to the closest hospital, and lab costs.
Julia says, “I thank you all deeply for the help you are providing and will provide in this process.”
