Saran is a 64-year-old retired government worker. He lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. His wife is a cook at a restaurant and together they have two daughters, three sons, and five grandchildren. They recently moved in with one of their daughters to help take care of their grandchildren. He loves to go for walks, listen to the radio, and cook meals for his grandchildren.
Three years ago, Saran developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Saran learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled there seeking treatment. On August 17th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Saran said, “I hope after surgery my eyesight is good again, so I can go on walks and take my grandchildren to nice places.”
