Nang is a 73-year-old retired rice farmer and loving grandmother. She has two daughters, both of whom are married, and a son who unfortunately passed during infancy. She currently lives with her husband and youngest daughter. Some of Nang’s favorite activities include listening to the news on the radio and visiting with family.
About a year ago, Nang developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her to experience cloudy vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own. Her condition has forced her to become dependent on others in order to do daily activities.
When Nang learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On August 3rd, doctors will perform cataract surgery and place an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help funding this $253 procedure.
Nang says, “I hope after surgery I will see better and can go outside on my own. I want to help my daughter with housework and cook for the grandchildren.”
