Kimly is a 63-year-old seller from Cambodia. She likes to do housework, listen to monks pray, and join ceremonies in her free time.
Kimly developed a cataract in each eye about one year ago, which caused blurred vision, cloudy lenses, and photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light). It is difficult for her to work, see things clearly, recognize faces, and go anywhere outside on her own.
Kimly knew about medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), because a person in her village had surgery there before. She traveled one hour with her niece to reach CSC for treatment.
Doctors plan to perform a small incision cataract surgery and a lens implant in each eye. After this procedure, scheduled for May 29, Kimly will be able to see clearly again. CSC is requesting $292 to fund the treatment.

Kimly underwent successful cataract surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her left eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her right eye.
Kimly says, “I feel very happy that I can see everything clearly again so that I can help my family work at home like cook, clean, take care of my grandchildren, and easily go anywhere by myself.”
