Joyce is a 23-year-old woman from rural Uganda. She works at a local shop and is saving money to start her own farm. A recent graduate of an agricultural training program, she enjoys reading literature about farming.
For the last four years Joyce has had keloids—raised scar tissues—that have become painful over time. She is self-conscious about these scars, wearing long sleeves to hide them. The scars are also itchy, causing her to scratch at them and risk infection.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $196 to cover the cost of an operation to remove the scars. She is scheduled to receive treatment on May 4 at our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital.
“I want to thank the donors that are supporting my surgery,” Joyce says. “May God bless you abundantly.”
