Sothea is a 27-year-old man from Cambodia. He has three sisters and three brothers. When he is not working at his job in construction, he likes to visit coffee shops, drink coffee, and listen to songs.
On January 7, 2017, Sothea was in a motor vehicle accident and fell off his motorbike, fracturing his left femur. Initially, he sought treatment from a traditional Khmer healer, but his symptoms did not improve. Because of the fracture, Sothea is in pain and unable to walk without the support of crutches.
After learning about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), Sothea and his mother traveled for two hours to seek treatment. Now, CSC is requesting $411 to fund treatment for Sothea.
On March 6, surgeons at CSC will perform an open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) surgery to repair Sothea’s femoral fracture. During the procedure, steel rods, screws, or plates will be used to stabilize the bone and allow it to heal properly. After recovery, Sothea will be able to walk easily again.
