Mercy is a 4-year-old girl with a “knock knee.” If left untreated, it will be difficult for Mercy to walk normally or live an active life.
Fortunately, doctors at CURE’s hospital in Malawi can perform surgery to correct Mercy’s condition. They’re confident that with treatment, Mercy will be able to live a normal, healthy life.
Mercy came to CURE to be treated for her leg condition, but upon arrival her doctors discovered that she also had malaria. They gave her antibiotics and will wait until there are no more traces of malaria in her blood before moving forward with surgery. Mercy’s doctors say they are lucky to have caught her malaria early, and that they are enjoying getting to know Mercy as she spends time with them before her procedure.
