Sun is a loving grandmother from Svay Rieng province in Cambodia. She was a farmer for many years, but now, at age 75, she is retired from farming. Sun is married, has one daughter, and three grandchildren, who are the most important people in her life. She and her husband live with their daughter who is a grocery seller. At home, she likes to listen to monks pray on the radio.
Four years ago, Sun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision.
When Sun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 28th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and implant an intraocular lens in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Sun shared: “I hope after surgery my eye can see better. I can go out, take care of myself for the better, and help my daughter more with all of the housework.”
