Thy is a fisherwoman and grandmother of 15 from Cambodia. She enjoys watching soap operas in her spare time.
About three months ago, Thy developed a cataract in each eye, causing her sensitivity to light, blurry vision, and watery eyes. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Thy learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On October 2, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
Her sister says, “I hope my sister can go to work and be able to see.”

Thy underwent cataract surgery.
Thy has returned home after a successful operation. As per her doctor’s instructions, she had one eye done, and will need to return in a few weeks to have surgery on the other eye. She will be able to work and go about her daily life with improved vision. Her doctor looks forward to seeing her again in a couple weeks.
“Thank you, it will be easier for me to do my work,” she says.
