Nan is a 36-year-old farmer who is married with two sons. He likes to watch TV and teach his children how to read and write in his free time. He lives in Cambodia.
Nan has experienced lower back pain for the past two years. The pain has become severe over the past six months. He sometimes experiences numbness in his left leg. Nan has been diagnosed with spondylolisthesis, a condition in which one bone of his back slides forward over the bone below it. It is difficult for him to walk, and he has not been able to work since he started feeling back pain.
Nan heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from his sister. He traveled four hours to reach CSC’s treatment center.
On March 28, surgeons at CSC will perform a laminectomy to remove parts of the bone, bone spurs, or ligaments in Nan’s back. This operation will relieve pressure on the spinal nerves and will ease pain or weakness, allowing Nan to work again. CSC is asking for $1,500 to fund the surgery. Your donation will help pay for the surgical staff, surgical supplies, medication, and one night of hospital stay.
