Anastazia is a warm and happy 55-year-old grandmother from Uganda. She and her husband, James, are farmers and raise some hens. The country has been experiencing a drought for the past few years, so times have been difficult.
Anastazia and James have one son together and eleven grandchildren. She loves visiting with them, especially when they sing to her. She is an active member of her village, belonging to several social groups that help support people in the community in times of trouble. Anastazia is also an active member of her church and volunteers as a church warden.
For three years, she has had painful gynecological symptoms and pain in her back and abdomen. Her condition has left Anastazia unable to work, and she will need a total hysterectomy to relieve her symptoms.
Fortunately, Anastazia was connected with a Watsi medical partner. They are seeking $321 to fund her total hysterectomy procedure. Anastazia was able to provide $7 of her own money to pay for the treatment.
After her surgery, Anastazia hopes to be able to dig again and save enough money to buy some farm animals, like chickens and goats, to raise for income.
