Meet Phos, a 69-year-old grandmother from Cambodia. She has one daughter and six grandchildren. In her free time, she likes to participate in ceremonies at the pagoda and listen to monks praying on the radio.
About one year ago, Phos developed a cataract in each eye. This has resulted in blurred vision, tearing, and pain. It is difficult for Phos to see things clearly and go anywhere by herself. She shares with our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), that she is worried about going blind in the future.
CSC has arranged for Phos to have surgery on May 10 to remove her cataracts. Surgeons will perform a small-incision cataract surgery followed by intraocular lens implantation. The total cost of Phos’s surgery is $292.
Let’s help Phos regain her sight and independence!

Phos underwent cataract removal surgery.
Her eye cataract was successfully removed from her right eye, and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return soon for the same surgery on her left eye.
Phos says, “I feel very happy that I can see everything clearly again because I want to plant crops around my home for my family. I can easily look after my grandchildren and go anywhere by myself.”
