Mai is a 45-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia who is married and has one daughter, four sons, and four grandchildren. In his free time, Mai likes to listen to the news and music on the radio and watch boxing on TV.
About eight months ago, Mai developed a cataract in his right eye, which has caused him to experience blurred vision. It is difficult for him to see things clearly, recognize faces, work, and go anywhere on his own.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $211 to fund a phaco procedure and an intraocular lens implant for Mai’s right eye. The surgery is scheduled to take place on July 17 and, once completed, will hopefully restore Mai’s vision to its former state and allow him to live more comfortably.
