Nol is a 54-year-old man from Cambodia. He and his wife have two sons. His younger son still lives at home and helps Nol and his wife farm and sell corn from their street cart. In his free time, Nol is a fan of watching Cambodian and Thai boxing on TV.
In early March, Nol was going for a run when he fell and broke his leg. Now, it is difficult for him to walk, and he experiences chronic pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On April 3rd, Nol will undergo a fracture repair procedure to help him walk easily again. CSC is requesting $483 to fund this procedure. Nol contributed $100 to his care.
Nol shared his hope that, after surgery, his leg will fully heal so he can work, walk, and, hopefully, be able to run again.

Nol underwent fracture repair surgery to heal his broken leg.
Nol traveled to Children’s Surgical Centre where doctors debrided dead skin and repaired the fracture that was causing him pain in his leg. He rested in the hospital for several days and met with the physiotherapy team, who gave him exercises to increase muscle strength and flexibility, which he will be able to start once the incision is healed. He is pleased with his care and hopes he can use his leg soon to drive his motorcycle and street cart. This will improve his life because he needs to work to support his wife and children, and has not been able to work or drive since his accident.
Nol said: “I am so happy that the surgeons were able to fix my leg, it has been painful and I could not walk or sell my corn. Now I can look forward to working again and taking care of myself and my family.”
