Chan is a retired military officer from Cambodia. In his free time, he likes to watch Indian television dramas and listen to the news on the radio.
Two years ago, Chan developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him irritation, blurry vision, photophobia, and tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Chan learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On May 2, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
He says, “I hope that after surgery, I am able to feel comfortable going outside on my own and will be able to recognize my relatives’ faces.”
