Pov is a 51-year-old Cambodian farmer and father to two daughters and one son. “In his free time he enjoys listening to the news on the radio,” shares our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Lately, Pov has been unable to walk or work properly because of fractures in his right leg.
“Pov got into a moto accident on October 10, 2015,” explains CSC. This resulted in multiple fractures on his right leg.
Pov has also been diagnosed with a septic knee, an infection caused by a foreign object lodged in the knee. “It is difficult for Pov to walk and he experiences pain and redness around his right knee,” CSC says.
A surgeon at another hospital put two pins in for his fracture, however, one month later there was still pus discharge and Pov is in pain. When he traveled three hours to reach CSC, his condition was exacerbated.
“We have identified a femur fracture, a fracture of the internal condyle, and a fracture of the fibula head of his right leg,” shares CSC.
With $392, surgeons will perform arthroplasty surgery on Pov’s knee, which will treat the septic infection. If the infection were to remain untreated, it could spread to other areas and organs. After treatment he will experience less pain and swelling, and will be able to walk properly again.
