Yutharo is a 12-year-old football fan. He lives in Takeo province with his parents and his 15-year-old sister. His father drives a tuk-tuk taxi, and his mother works in a provincial garment factory. Yutharo is currently in grade six and is a big football fan. When not playing football with his friends, he enjoys mathematics class and would like to be a doctor when he is older.
In June 2023, Yutharo suffered several painful body burns after a trash fire ignited by gasoline burned his body. Burn scar contractures have developed on his abdomen, right armpit, and arm, which severely restrict his shoulder motion and impair his movement.
When Yutharo’s family learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, they traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On January 3rd, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to to help him regain the function of his arm. This surgery will improve his activities of daily living, such as dressing, grooming, and eating. Now, their family needs help to fund this $495 procedure.
Yutharo’s mother said: “We hope our son can have a normal life and other children will not make fun of his skin after this operation.”
