Juana’s screening revealed a low grade cervical lesion. If untreated, the lesion has the potential to become cervical cancer. Due to the inaccessibility of medical care, cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death among women of reproductive ages in Guatemala.

Juana received treatment to remove a pre-cancerous lesion from her cervix.
The operation went well and ended up saving Juana’s life! A pathology confirmed that the lesion was high grade, which would have definitely progressed to cancer if it wasn’t treated when it was.
