Chan Rouen is a four-month old living in rural Cambodia. She was born with a condition called meningoencephalocele, which has caused disfigurement in her face and puts her at constant risk for meningitis and brain hemorrhages. The only treatment for her condition is surgery.
Her mother is very worried about Chan Rouen. She heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, from someone in her village and hopes her daughter can receive the surgery.
For $450, Chan Rouen will receive surgery that will treat her meningoencephalocele and allow her to grow up healthy and strong alongside her three siblings.

According to our medical partners, Chan Rouen’s operation could not have gone better. She recovered quickly without any fevers or vomiting—both of which are common symptoms after this procedure. Chan Rouen can now develop without the risk of infection, brain haemorrhages, or meningitis.
