Sovann is a 50-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three children and enjoys doing chores and tailoring clothes for them.
Thirty years ago, Sovann had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Sovann experiences ear discharge, pain, and swelling. She has daily pain and discharge, making it difficult to go about her daily tasks.
Sovann traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On February 1, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
She says, “I hope this operation will allow me to no longer have ear pain or discharge.”
