Lekerini is a smart girl who was forced to drop out of school in the fifth grade because of a condition called ankle equinus, a deformity of the ankle joint that severely limits the movement of her foot. At just 19 years old, Lekerini cannot walk without a cane.
Fortunately, doctors at CURE International met Lekerini during a mobile outreach clinic. They’re confident that with surgery and physical therapy, Lekerini can begin walking normally and go back to school.
It will take $1000 to pay for Lekerini’s surgery. Her family, though hardworking crop farmers, cannot afford the extra expense, so CURE submitted her profile to Watsi for help covering the cost of her care.
