Touch is a retired rice farmer from Takeo province. She is married and has 3 sons and 10 grandchildren. She lives with her husband near her eldest son’s house. All 3 of their sons work in a nearby rice paddy and help support Touch and her husband. At home, she enjoys listening to the radio and spending time with her grandkids.
About one year ago, Touch developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so she is not able to go places on her own.
When Touch learned about our medical partner Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), she traveled for 2 hours seeking treatment. On September 4th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Touch is able to contribute towards the cost of the surgery and needs help raising $253 to fully fund the procedure.
Touch shared, “I hope I can see better so I can go shopping and go to the pagoda by myself. I don’t want my family to worry about me falling or my eyes getting worse.”
