Phat is a 70-year-old mother of seven, with three sons, four daughters, and now many grandchildren. Sadly, her husband died two years ago from hypertension and now she lives with her younger daughter, who works as a farmer. She likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio and take care of her grandchildren.
Two years ago, Phat developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and sensitivity to light. She has difficulty walking due to her poor vision, and also has difficulty recognizing faces and going anywhere outside.
When Phat learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On January 10th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Phat shared, “I hope after surgery my eye can see clearly. I can take care of myself and take care of my grandchildren well.”
