Angel is a four-year-old girl from Kenya. She is the second born in her family. Her father is a waiter in a small hotel in their village, while her mother stays home. Angel was born with clubfoot on both feet, a condition that makes it difficult for her to walk. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. She began treatment soon after birth, starting with serial casting to correct her feet. Unfortunately, the family had to stop the follow-up treatments because they could not afford the transport costs as the hospital was far from their home. They recently heard about our medical partner's care center, Cure Hospital, and sought treatment there. Angel has been in the hospital undergoing serial casting to prepare her for surgery. On September 24th, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund the treatment. After treatment, Angel will be able to stand upright, play, walk, and run like other children. Angel's mother shared, " I am looking forward to her healing quickly and walking like other children, which will be my joy."

Savoeurn is a 26-year-old truck driver who lives in Cambodia with his mother and older brother. His father passed away ten years ago. His mother is a retired rice farmer and his brother also works as a truck driver. In his free time, Savoeurn grows vegetables near their house and takes odd jobs in the village to help support his family. When Savoeurn was 15 years old, he was bitten by a snake, resulting in necrosis on his right hand's middle finger. He received treatment at a public hospital, but developed a scar on the finger. Over time, his third finger has become smaller and weaker, and he has lost the ability to use it. Our surgeons have diagnosed that his middle finger needs to be amputated due to the dead tissue and contracture affecting his hand function. Savoeurn and his family were referred by a friend to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). On July 8th, surgeons will perform a finger amputation surgery on his right hand. Savoeurn and his family are able to contribute $100 towards the cost of his treatment but need help raising an additional $379 to fund the procedure. After the surgery, he hopes he will be able to use his right hand more easily, and that he will be able to drive safely and comfortably.

Sarou is a 58-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives with his wife and two of his four children in Sihanouk province. The other two children have moved out and help support the family by working in factory and construction jobs. At home, Sarou likes to listen to Buddhist radio and harvest fruit from the trees in the village. On February 26, 2024, Sarou was in a motorbike accident that caused a closed fracture on his left thigh. He was sent to a local hospital for surgery. On July 1, 2024, he was in another traffic accident that injured the same leg. Sarou now requires additional surgery to align the bone using metalwork. Currently, his left femur is swollen and he is in chronic pain. He is unable to walk or work. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 3rd, Sarou's family is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $383 to fund this procedure. After surgery, Sarou hopes the pain will be gone and he can return to work.
