“I thank God for the support I am getting through the Watsi program,” says Gloria, a 40-year-old farmer from Uganda.
Gloria is a mother of six and is currently expecting a seventh child. Gloria’s pregnancy has been identified by her local health facility as high-risk. Gloria’s childbirth process could be potentially dangerous because she is above the age of 35 and has undergone three C-sections in the past.
For these reasons, Gloria needs to deliver through a carefully monitored C-section on February 4. However, the cost of this operation exceeds Gloria’s means. Gloria and her husband support all of their children’s schooling through farming. Even so, “we sold off most of the land we had for my previous operations,” Gloria explains. “There was very little land remaining, and even so, selling it would not raise enough money for the surgery I need now.”
But for $258, we can fund Gloria’s C-section. Let’s make sure this mother returns to her family quickly and in good health.
