Sy Long is a 55-year-old fourth grade teacher who lives in Cambodia with his family. He is married with three sons and one daughter. He likes to listen to the news on the radio in his free time.
He developed a pterygium in each eye about a year ago, causing him to have blurred vision, tearing, itchiness, cloudy lenses, and photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light). It is difficult for him to see things clearly, read, recognize faces, work, and go places by himself.
Sy Long heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from his neighbor, who had surgery there before. He traveled for five hours with his cousin to reach CSC for treatment. At CSC, he was informed he will need eye surgery. His treatment is scheduled fro April 24.
Sy Long’s treatment will cost $148, which he cannot afford. But through help from Watsi, he will be able to receive this treatment.
After his procedure, Sy Long will be able to see clearly again and be able to gain his independence again.
