Roth is a 27-year-old noodle maker from Cambodia. Roth enjoys his job preparing noodles and loves to listen to music in his free time.
Three years ago, Roth was in a motor vehicle accident that fractured his left femur and tibia. A nearby hospital fixed his fractures and amputated two of his toes. One year ago, our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), performed additional procedures to heal lingering problems and infections that Roth had been experiencing with his initial fractures. Later in 2016, surgeons at CSC performed a bone graft on his left tibia.
Although Roth’s tibia is healed, Roth continues to experience problems with his big toe due to the partial amputation he underwent immediately following the accident. Additionally, Roth has been having difficulty walking due to the chronic pain in his foot.
CSC is requesting $450 to fund a joint arthrodesis procedure for Roth, which is scheduled to take place on June 15. This procedure entails fusing together the two bones that make up the joint in Roth’s aching toe in order to relieve Roth of his pain.
Roth’s journey to recovery has been long and, with this next procedure, he will hopefully gain the mobility needed to resume a normal life.
