Apollo is a seven-year-old boy from Uganda. His mother works as a farm laborer, and his father works as a lumberjack. When Apollo is not feeling ill, he enjoys playing with his three siblings and other children from the neighborhood. They enjoy games of hide-and-seek as well as constructing with mud.
Apollo is suffering from malnutrition, characterized by edema and diarrhea. Without treatment, Apollo is at risk of experiencing severe physical and developmental delays. Furthermore, he will remain too weak to play or go to school.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $316 to fund malnutrition treatment for Apollo. The treatment is scheduled to be administered on May 12 and includes a ten-night hospital stay, medications, and provision of nutrient-rich formulas. After treatment, Apollo’s parents hope to feed their son better so that his malnutrition does not recur.
“I thank the donors for the support, I was worried I could not afford the hospital costs and that’s why l delayed to bring Apollo to the hospital,” says Apollo’s mother.
