“I thank the donors for supporting my son’s treatment,” shares Ronald’s mother. “I pray that God will reward them.”
Ronald is a two-year-old boy from Uganda who enjoys playing soccer with his brothers in his free time. Lately, though, soccer—or any other kind of serious physical activity—has not been an option for him.
Ever since he was born, Ronald has lived with abdominal pain that makes him vomit after eating. As a result, his body has trouble retaining the nourishment he needs, and Ronald was diagnosed with malnutrition this month. He is smaller than he should be for his age, and has developed edema. If left unchecked, these nutritional insufficiencies could cause Ronald lifelong physical and mental handicaps.
To avoid these outcomes, Ronald needs to be placed on an intensive malnutrition management regimen. However, his mother—who works as a subsistence farmer and casual laborer—is already stretching her financial resources thin to afford food and education for her children, and cannot afford Ronald’s treatment.
But for $316, we can fully fund Ronald’s medical care. This sum will provide Ronald with nutritional supplements to restore him to a healthy weight, and will also cover the lab tests and 10-day hospital stay beginning September 29 that will ensure his safe recovery.
With your help, Ronald will be returned to a normal weight under medical supervision. His mother looks forward to taking Ronald to his first day of school shortly after that.
