Sarom is a 38-year-old farmer from Cambodia who lives with his wife, daughter, and son. In his free time, Sarom enjoys fishing, listening to Khmer music, and relaxing with his family.
In May, Sarom suffered an electric burn on his left hand in the space between his middle and ring fingers. He went to a private clinic for treatment, but his symptoms did not improve. Given the severity of the burn, Sarom is unable to use his left hand and is in chronic pain.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Center, is requesting $725 to fund surgery on Sarom’s hand, which is scheduled to take place on June 16. The operation entails removal of damaged tissue and a flap procedure, in which tissue will be moved from a donor site to the wounded area. Sarom’s doctors are confident that the surgery will allow him to return to work and use his hand without pain.
